South Western Ambulance Service has confirmed it is attending a road traffic collision involving a coach near Minehead this afternoon. It is understood that the bus was on a return trip from the Exmouth Zoo with school children from the Minehead Middle school.

The incident occurred on the A396 between Wheddon Cross and Dunster, prompting a multi-agency emergency response.

“Along with other emergency services, we’re attending a road traffic collision involving a coach near Minehead,” the ambulance service announced in a public statement.

Travel Disruption Warning

Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the A396 while the incident is ongoing. Affected drivers are urged to seek alternative routes as emergency services continue to manage the scene.

“People travelling in the area are advised to avoid the A396 between Wheddon Cross and Dunster and find an alternative route,” the statement reads.
