A serious crash on the M25 has caused significant disruption, leading to the closure of the motorway in both directions between J29 (A127 Romford/Basildon) and J28 (A12 Brentwood/Brook Street Roundabout).

Emergency Services at the Scene

Emergency services, including Essex Police and National Highways Traffic Officers, are currently on-site managing the situation and assisting with traffic. The incident, first reported just before 1:00 pm, has led to widespread delays.

Traffic and Delays

National Highways has confirmed delays of up to 90 minutes against expected travel times, with congestion stretching back for 5 miles. Traffic is also building towards the Dartford Crossing, further exacerbating delays.

Diversion Routes

Drivers traveling anti-clockwise are advised to follow the Hollow Square diversion route:

  1. Exit at M25 J29 onto the A127 towards London.
  2. At the “Gallows Corner” junction, bear left and take the 4th exit onto the A12 towards Harwich.
  3. Follow the A12 and take the M25 exit slip.
  4. Rejoin the M25 at J28.

Motorists are urged to allow extra time for their journeys or consider alternative routes if possible.
