Beast Jailed for Brutal Strangle Attack in Front of Kids
Lee Woods, 31, homeless and violent, has been locked up for 40 months after a savage assault on a woman in Hastings. The charges: grievous bodily harm and intentional strangulation.
Horrific Attack Unfolds in Hastings Home
The nightmare began on August 20 when police were called to Priory Road after reports of a loud argument. Witnesses say Woods battered and strangled the woman, who is in her 30s, while two young children watched in horror.
Terrified, the woman fled to the bathroom to escape, but Woods kicked down the door and kept attacking her. The brutal assault didn’t stop until police intervened.
Quick Justice After Shocking Violence
Woods tried to flee but was arrested four days later on August 24. He admitted guilt at Brighton Magistrates’ Court just four days after his arrest. On September 24, Hove Crown Court handed down a hefty 40-month prison sentence and slapped on a five-year restraining order banning any contact with the victim.
Detective Constable Kieran Morris said: “This was a horrific sustained attack of a lone female in front of two young children. The level of violence used against the victim was shocking.”
He also praised the victim’s bravery. “I would like to praise the woman for her courage in making this report and throughout the course of the investigation.”
DC Morris added, “The investigation was swift—from the offence to conviction in just over 30 days. This shows how seriously we take domestic abuse and violence against women and girls.”
Help Is Out There: Speak Up Against Domestic Abuse
DC Morris urged others suffering abuse to come forward. “You will be supported. We are committed to protecting victims of domestic abuse and violence against women and girls.”
