The family of Rob Love, a 62-year-old motorcyclist who tragically lost his life following a collision on the A350 at West Ashton, has paid an emotional tribute to him.
The incident occurred at around 9:10 PM on December 17, when Rob’s Yamaha YP 400 motorcycle collided with a Volkswagen Taigo at the West Ashton crossroads.
A Life Remembered
In a heartfelt statement, Rob’s family described him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
“Rob was a loving brother, son, cousin, uncle, and a grandson, and our hearts are broken. I wouldn’t want anybody to go through what we’ve been through as a family.”
Born to military parents in England but raised in Edinburgh, Rob joined the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards in 1980, serving as a gunner mech for 13 years, including active duty in the Gulf War in 1990.
Rob met his wife, Sue, in Warminster in 1987, and they married the following year, spending 37 years together. They shared a life in Westbury for over three decades, raising their son Stuart and stepchildren Antony and Richard.
Passions and Community
Rob was known for his love of walking his dogs—Sam, Bruce, and Ralphy—and for his close bond with his neighborus, particularly during the pandemic, forming a tight-knit group called the ‘Back Lane Gang.’
A passionate scooter rider, Rob actively participated in organized events with the local biking community, the Maxi Muppets.
His family shared their grief in their tribute: “Rob will be dearly missed by Sue, the boys, his grandchildren, sister, nephew, extended family, and friends. ‘You will forever be my always.’”
The local community continues to mourn Rob’s passing, remembering him as a kind and dedicated family man with a deep passion for life and those he loved.
