In a post to social media at around midday (July 12), Barking and Dagenham Council said that Choats Manor Way had been closed in both directions due to a burst water pipe.

Essex and Suffolk Water, which supplies the area, has said on its website that there is “water disruption”, with no water or low water pressure reported.

This has affected households in some parts of Dagenham and Rainham.

It comes on a day when the mercury topped 30C across the capital.

In a 2pm update, the water company said: “We are working hard to resolve a supply issue in your area which will continue throughout the day.

“You may notice intermittent interruptions to your supply, low pressure or no water. An update will be provided once this is complete. Thanks for your continued patience.”

The local authority has asked drivers to use alternative routes while work to fix the burst pipe takes place.

The affected postcodes are as follows – RM9, IG11, DA8, SE28, RM13, RM19, E6, RM8, RM10, RM12, RM14, DA17 and RM15.
