Rail passengers are facing disruption this morning after a fatality on the railway line in the Freshford area.

Emergency services were called to the scene early today, with the incident resulting in the closure of the Bath Spa to Westbury route.

A GWR spokesperson confirmed:

“Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident, the lines are currently blocked. Freshford, Avoncliffe and Bradford-on-Avon will not be served by trains until further notice. Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 09:00.”

Replacement taxis are shuttling between Bath Spa and Westbury, stopping at Freshford, Avoncliffe and Bradford-on-Avon, although GWR has warned they cannot guarantee arrival times.

The identity of the deceased has not been released, and no further details have been provided.
