A resident of Langham Road  near Turnpike Lane Station has reported that an Amazon package was stolen from their doorstep at 4:36pm on Tuesday, February 25. Despite being somewhat hidden, CCTV footage reportedly shows the suspect scouting the area and also inspecting a neighbour’s door before taking the parcel.

This latest theft marks the fourth or fifth time the victim has had a package stolen, sparking concerns over rising crime in the area following the introduction of the Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) scheme.

Ever since the council had the brilliant/stupid idea of introducing the LTN scheme, which is now permanent, the street has become unsafe. The council has reduced traffic but increased crime,” the frustrated resident stated.

The LTN scheme, designed to reduce through-traffic in residential areas, has drawn mixed reactions from locals. While some praise its environmental benefits, others argue that it has inadvertently created opportunities for crime by reducing the visibility of suspicious individuals and making it easier for thieves to operate undetected.

In addition to parcel thefts, there have also been reports of vehicle break-ins, with parked cars frequently found with smashed windows—something the resident claims was not an issue before the LTN was introduced.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant, consider installing security cameras, and report any suspicious activity to the police.
