Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision (RTC) between a vehicle and a cyclist in Swindon yesterday evening (10/04). The incident occurred between 8:40 pm and 8:50 pm on the toucan crossing of the Great Western Way, on the approach to Bruce Street Bridges roundabout, shortly after the junction with Galton Way.
Tragically, the vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene, and at present, both the identity of the vehicle and its driver remains unknown. Enquiries are currently underway to identify both the vehicle and its driver.
The cyclist involved, a woman in her 40s, sustained severe leg injuries as a result of the collision and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
It is believed that the vehicle in question was travelling in the direction of Bridgemead towards Bruce Street Bridges at the time of the incident.
Wiltshire Police have released two photos depicting the location where the collision took place.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or possesses any information regarding the vehicle or its driver is urged to come forward and assist with the investigation.
