Three Appear in Court Charged with Murder of Man in Easterton

Three people have appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in Easterton, near Devizes, following a fatal stabbing last summer.

Helen Shakespeare, 53, and Letishia Goodwin, 30 — both of Strawberry Fields — and Anthony Hodges-Hillier, 33, of Brooklands, Royal Wootton Bassett, are accused of killing 48-year-old Raymond Groves from Hartcliffe, Bristol.

The incident took place on July 2, 2024, when police were called to Strawberry Fields shortly after 8pm amid reports that a man had been stabbed. Emergency services attended the scene, but despite their efforts, Mr Groves was pronounced dead.

The case was brought before Salisbury Crown Court this week, with the trial officially beginning on Tuesday (March 11). It is expected to continue for approximately six weeks.

All three defendants face charges of murder in connection with the fatal attack.

Further updates will follow as the trial progresses.
