Two elderly women are fighting for their lives after being hit by a Vanvan reversing outside Savers in england/england/melksham/”>melksham/”>Melksham. The horrifying crash happened around 1.30pm on Saturday (27 September) on Lowbourne.
Emergency Crews Rush Victims to Hospital
Great Western Air Ambulance joined paramedics and police at the scene. Both women, in their 70s, were rushed by land ambulance to Southmead Hospital’s Major Trauma Centre. They remain in critical condition this morning.
A family member revealed the shocking injuries: bleeds on the brain, a punctured lung, a lacerated liver, and multiple broken bones.
Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Dangerous and Drug Driving
Wiltshire Police arrested the 25-year-old Melksham man behind the wheel. He’s been bailed pending drug test results, as officers Presspress ahead with their probe.
Sergeant James Twyford from the Roads Policing Unit said: “This was a serious incident which has resulted in two elderly women suffering potentially life-threatening injuries. We thank witnesses for their support and urge anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to get in Touchtouch.”
