Man Jailed After Deliberately Driving Into Two Pedestrians in Salisbury

A man has been jailed after using his car as a weapon to run down two people in Salisbury earlier this year.

Braden Lynam, 22, of Woodborough Close, Trowbridge, was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on Friday (29 August) to four years and eight months’ imprisonment. He was also disqualified from driving for five years.

Lynam had previously pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving at an earlier hearing in April.

The incident

On 27 March 2025, Lynam became involved in a physical altercation with a man in his 40s in Salisbury. When a woman in her 20s tried to intervene, Lynam retaliated by getting into his blue Ford Focus and driving at speed directly into both victims.

The male victim suffered life-changing leg injuries, while the woman sustained serious but non-life-changing injuries.

Lynam failed to stop and fled the scene, abandoning his vehicle in Churchfields Road. He evaded officers for several days before being arrested on 31 March.

Police statement

Investigating officer DC Louise Butler of Wiltshire Police said:

“Lynam’s actions were horrendous and have resulted in one of the victims suffering life-changing leg injuries. Even so, it is fortunate that it is not a lot worse. He could easily have taken two lives.

Lynam then failed to stop at the scene, leaving his two victims by the side of the road with serious injuries. There is no place for this sort of violence in our county and I’m pleased he has now been jailed.”
