Man Assaulted with Crowbar in Bow: Two Arrested for GBH

A man is in police custody following a serious assault on Boothferry Road in Goole this evening, Wednesday 3 April.
We were called shortly after 5.25pm with reports that a man had allegedly assaulted a woman with a weapon.
Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are thought to be life-threatening, where she remains in a critical condition.
A large-scale search was conducted, supported by colleagues from the National Police Air Service, and a man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in our custody whilst enquiries continue.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Nicola Burnett said: “I understand that the extensive police activity in Goole and the surrounding areas this evening may have caused some concern amongst the local community.
“I want to offer my reassurance that we do believe this to have been an isolated incident between people who were known to each other with no wider risk to the public.
“We do have extra officers in the area this evening, both to carry out enquiries and to offer reassurance, and I would urge anyone with any concerns or information to please speak to them.
“Alternatively, you can report any information that may assist our investigation by calling our non-emergency 101 line quoting log 374 of 3 April or via the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
