Essex Police have charged a 47-year-old man with murder following the tragic discovery of a woman’s body inside a house in Chelmsford.
The incident unfolded on Friday, February 9, when authorities responded to reports of a suspicious man at a property in Readers Court, Chelmsford. Upon arrival, police found a woman, aged in her 60s, seriously injured within the residence. Despite efforts by paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sebastian Compton, a resident of Readers Court, Chelmsford, was arrested on the same day and subsequently charged with the woman’s murder. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 12.
Detective Chief Superintendent Rob Kirby, leading the investigation, emphasized that there is no broader threat to the community in the Great Baddow area where the incident occurred. However, the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward.
