A fifth suspect has been charged in connection with the murder of Joshua McLean in Tower Hamlets. Shanoor Ahmed, 38, of Russia Lane, E2, is set to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 14, charged with McLean’s murder. Ahmed was arrested on Saturday, October 12.
This brings the total number of individuals charged with McLean’s murder to five. The other four suspects, who have previously appeared in court, are:
- Nefur Miah, 36, of Redmans Road, E1
- Muhammed Ismail Ali, 37, of Marlborough Road, RM7
- Simeon Oliver-Stewart, 30, of Clevedon Close, N16
- Muhammad Abbas, 22, of Bradford Road, Kirklees
All four defendants are scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, December 17.
The investigation, led by detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command, was launched following the fatal shooting of Joshua McLean, 31, on Tuesday, August 6, in Weavers Fields, Wilmot Street, E2. The incident shocked the local community, and police continued their work to uncover the full details surrounding McLean’s tragic death.
