Family of Sebastian Sailes Pay Tribute to ‘Remarkable Young Man’ After Body Recovered from River Avon

The family of Sebastian Sailes, a 21-year-old man whose body was recovered from the River Avon in Chippenham last week, have issued a heartfelt tribute to their “remarkable” son and thanked the community for its overwhelming support during their time of loss.

Sebastian had been reported missing after he was last seen leaving the Black Horse Pub on Thursday, February 27. Following an extensive multi-agency search effort, his body was recovered from the river on Tuesday, 11 March.

‘Seb Will Forever Be in Our Hearts and Minds’

In a moving statement, the Sailes family said:

“As we try to come to terms with the loss of our beautiful son Sebastian, we specifically want to express our sincere appreciation for the incredible support we have had from the wider community.
Sadly, bad things happen to good people, but the outpouring of support from this country and far beyond has been truly inspiring and reminded us that this world is blessed with many decent and loving people.”

They described Sebastian as a young man filled with enthusiasm, passion for life, and a kind and generous spirit, adding:

“As a family, we are shattered by Seb’s passing and each day try to find the strength to remember the remarkable young man he had become. He will forever be in our hearts and minds.”
