Collingbourne Ducis Man Sentenced for Threatening to Kill Woman and Unborn Child

A man from Collingbourne Ducis has received a suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to sending death threats during a drug and alcohol-fuelled binge.

Dean Hewitt, 35, of Tidworth Road, was sentenced at Salisbury Crown Court on 14 May after admitting to malicious communication and threats to kill.

The court heard that between 30 and 31 December 2023, Hewitt sent a series of chilling messages to a woman threatening to kill her and her unborn child while under the influence of cocaine and alcohol.

Sentence and Rehabilitation Order

Hewitt was handed a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. He was also ordered to complete:

  • 100 hours of unpaid work
  • 12 rehabilitation sessions with Turning Point, a substance misuse support service

Police Statement

Speaking after the sentencing, PC Nic Blake of Wiltshire Police said:

“We take reports of this nature very seriously, and threats of violence towards women are unacceptable.
I would urge anyone who is being threatened to reach out and tell someone. You are not alone.”

Wiltshire Police has reminded the public that domestic abuse can take many forms—including physical, sexual, psychological or financial abuse, as well as threats, intimidation or stalking.

Support Available

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, police urge victims to seek help—either from the police or one of the many local or national support agencies.

“You’re not to blame for what’s happening. Help is available, even if you’re not ready to speak to police.”

For more information on support organisations, visit the Wiltshire Police website or call 101. In an emergency, always call 999.
