Body of Man Found in Devizes Canal — No Suspicious Circumstances, Say Wiltshire Police – UKNIP

A man in his 40s has been found deceased in the canal near Horton Avenue in Devizes, Wiltshire Police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 7:00pm on Friday, 30 May, following a report from a member of the public that a body had been seen in the water.

Police officers and recovery teams attended, and the body of a deceased male was recovered from the canal shortly afterwards.

No Suspicious Circumstances

Wiltshire Police have stated that there are no suspicious circumstances at this time surrounding the man’s death. A formal identification has not yet taken place, but the man’s family have been informed.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said:

“Our thoughts are with the man’s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. While formal identification is pending, we can confirm that next of kin have been notified.”

Investigation Ongoing

Although the death is not believed to be suspicious, enquiries are ongoing, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
