Eastbourne Police Crack Down on Motorcycle Thieves
Eastbourne cops have made fresh arrests in their ongoing crackdown on motorcycle thefts under Operation Portman.
Two Men Nabbed with Stolen Bikes and Drugs
On Sunday, October 13, officers on patrol in Eastbourne spotted two motorcycles dumped in a garden. The bikes had no license plates and showed signs of tampering, raising suspicions they were stolen.
Police gained access to the property and arrested two men found on-site. Both face charges of vehicle theft and possession of Class B drugs. One of the suspects was also busted for assaulting an emergency worker.
Stolen Bikes Recovered, Owners Sought
Chief Inspector Nicklin said: “While reports of stolen motorcycles across the district have started to drop, our focus on catching offenders and supporting victims remains strong.”
The stolen bikes have been recovered and police are reaching out to their rightful owners. Both suspects have been released on bail while investigations continue.
Police Warn Motorcycle Owners: Stay Alert!
Nicklin urged owners to beef up security and stay vigilant. “We encourage motorcycle owners to review their security and ensure their bikes are locked up when not in use,” he added.
Anyone with info about the thefts or who believes they may be a victim should contact police online or call 101, quoting Operation Portman.
