Bridewell Community Gardaí, in partnership with the National Transport Authority (NTA) Taxi Regulator, carried out a series of multi-agency checkpoints across Dublin 1 and Dublin 7 over the course of the bank holiday weekend.

The coordinated operation was aimed at ensuring the safety of passengers and maintaining high standards within the taxi industry. During the checkpoints, a number of fixed charge penalties were issued by the Taxi Regulator for various regulatory breaches.

A Garda spokesperson said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to promote public safety and ensure compliance within the transport sector. “Our aim is to ensure people’s journeys were safe,” they added.

The operation received positive feedback from members of the public, who welcomed the increased focus on transport safety over the busy holiday period.

Bridewell Gardaí confirmed that further similar operations are planned in the coming months.
