A 21-year-old man has died following a fatal stabbing on Hillingdon Street in South London, prompting a murder investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
Emergency services were called to the scene in SE17 at 9:16pm on Monday, April 14, following multiple 999 calls reporting a stabbing and a group of people carrying knives. The victim, now named as Giovanny Rendon Bedoya, was found with serious stab wounds and treated by the London Ambulance Service. Despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, who is leading the investigation, said:
“We received multiple 999 calls reporting that a young man had been stabbed and a number of people were seen carrying knives. Officers arrived to find a 21-year-old man with serious injuries. He was treated at the scene before being sadly pronounced dead.”
Giovanny was from Walworth. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Six Arrests Made – Three Released, Three on Bail
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, six people were arrested. Police confirmed that three have since been released without further action, while three others remain on bail pending further enquiries.
DCI Blackburn issued a public appeal for witnesses and information:
“We believe there were many people in the area who saw the group but haven’t yet come forward to speak to police. Were you in the Hillingdon Street area on Monday evening? Did you see anything suspicious or anyone carrying a knife? If so, please contact police.”
