A 52-year-old man has been arrested following a horrifying report of a knife-point rape in Kingsnorth Gardens, a public park in Folkestone, Kent. The alleged assault occurred around 12:40pm on Friday, 6 June, prompting a rapid police response.

The female victim, who suffered a facial injury during the incident, told officers that she had been approached by a man she knew before being threatened with a knife and raped.


Suspect Arrested, Knife and Drugs Seized

Kent Police confirmed that officers arrested a man shortly after the incident. During the arrest, he was found to be in possession of a bladed article and a quantity of cocaine.

The suspect has since been charged with possession of a knife in a public place and possession of Class A drugs. He has been bailed in relation to the rape allegation, pending further investigation, and is due to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Monday to face the weapons and drugs charges.


Police Appeal for Witnesses

A spokesperson for Kent Police said:

“Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a report of a serious sexual assault in Folkestone.
The incident happened in Kingsnorth Gardens at around 12.40pm on Friday, 6 June.”

Anyone who was in the park around the time of the incident or who may have seen suspicious behaviour is urged to come forward. Officers are particularly interested in any dashcam, mobile phone, or CCTV footage from the area.


Increased Patrols in Area

Uniformed patrols have been increased in and around Kingsnorth Gardens to reassure the local community as detectives continue their investigation.
