Man arrested after Buddha Lounge Attack in Southampton

Detectives investigating an incident that occurred outside Buddha Lounge on Sunday 20 August, have arrested a 36-year-old man. Detectives investigating an incident that occurred outside Buddha Lounge on Sunday 20 August, have arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody at this time. The arrest comes after a 30-year-old man from Croydon was reported be have been seriously injured outside Buddha Lounge on Winchester Street at 1.48am on Sunday 20 August. He was transported to hospital where he remains having suffered a serious head injury. Enquiries are on-going to establish the exact circumstances leading up to this incident. Detectives would like to hear from anyone who was in Winchester Street area around this time on Sunday morning who may have witnessed what happened. Detective Inspector Pete Boakes from the Western Investigation Team said: “We would specifically like to speak with anyone who may have footage of the incident on their phone. “This area was very busy when the incident occurred and we hope someone may have either purposefully or inadvertently captured footage of the incident. “If you were in the Winchester Street area or outside any of the establishments including Buddha Lounge at this time, please get in contact and assist us with this investigation.” If you have any information relating to this case, please call 101 quoting reference ‘44170321827’, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
