James Biscoe, 21, of Windsor Drive, Dartford, appeared in court in May after pleading guilty to the following charges:

Dangerous driving causes death
Perilous driving
Driving while intoxicated
Failure to stop at the scene of an accident

On Friday, June 6, he was sentenced to seven years in prison at the same court, a sentence that took into account his early guilty plea.

Biscoe’s driving privileges were also suspended for ten years.

Junior Alexander, of Bromley, was riding his e-scooter when he was hit by Biscoe’s red Fiat Punto, which was driving on the wrong side of Southborough Lane at 1.20am  on Sunday, 18 July 2021.

The 16-year-old was thrown several yards before collapsing into a tree. He sustained serious injuries and was discovered by members of the public eight minutes later.

They provided first aid before police and paramedics arrived, and Junior was taken to the hospital. Junior died at 06:16 despite the efforts of the medical team to save him.

A later post-mortem examination would reveal that the cause of death was multiple injuries.

Biscoe had fled the scene of the accident. When police discovered debris from his car, they immediately began searching for the vehicle.

Specialist forensic work revealed that Biscoe had an alcohol level in his body of approximately 106 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath at the time of the collision.

The prescribed legal limit is 35 micrograms.
