On Wednesday (25 May), Jack Humphries, 27, of Shelburne Street, Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced to seven years and two months in prison after admitting to possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, possession of a class B drug, and possession with intent to supply a class B drug on two separate occasions.

The court heard how, in June 2021, police acting on intelligence raided an address in Fenton.

More than 12 grammes of cocaine worth £1,300, as well as a tub of cannabis plants, two phones, and a pair of digital scales, were discovered.

Humphries was detained and later released under investigation while cops inspected his phone.

Officers then searched Humphries’ home address in March of this year.

A total of 13.83 grammes of cocaine was discovered hidden behind the grating of a hob extractor fan.

The address also yielded more than £450 in cash, a machete, a phone, deal bags, and digital scales.

Humphries was subsequently remanded in jail after admitting to all allegations.

PC “Humphries maintained his unlawful behaviour after being arrested and prosecuted back in June last year,” said Ian Prendergast, the officer in charge of the case.

“He sought to conceal the narcotics in his residence and was determined to spread these dangerous chemicals across our community for his own criminal benefit.”

I am pleased with the sentence and hope that it reassures the public that we will continue to do all possible to disrupt the supply of narcotics in Staffordshire.
