Zoe Ball, the much-loved presenter of BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show, is set to return to the airwaves after several weeks of absence. The 53-year-old last hosted The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on August 8 but will be back on the morning show soon.
During Ball’s time away, presenters Gaby Roslin and Scott Mills stepped in to cover the show. In a social media post earlier today, Zoe announced her upcoming return, saying: “Back on breakfast @bbcradio2 tomorrow morning at 6:30 thanks to @scott_mills and @DJSpoony for putting in the mega shifts @TinaDaheley @richie_anderson @mikewills_sport.
Fans have expressed growing concern over Zoe’s prolonged absence, but she has reassured listeners that she will be back on air. However, it seems she may still be off for at least another week.
While no specific reason has been provided for her time away, the BBC presenter has faced a challenging year. Earlier in the year, she took a break after announcing the heartbreaking loss of her mother, Julia Peckham, who passed away in April at the age of 75 from advanced pancreatic cancer. Zoe also reportedly underwent emergency dental treatment during this period.
Her son, Woody Cook, recently spoke about his relationship with his mother, telling MailOnline that he has been spending more time with her during these difficult months. My mum and I like to keep our private lives to ourselves,” Woody said, “but I will say I have stepped up and spent a lot more time with her recently as she has always been there when I’ve had tough times. I’m glad to see her smiling.”
Zoe Ball’s fans are eagerly awaiting her return to the Breakfast Show, which airs weekdays from 6:30 a.m. on BBC Radio 2. For those who may have missed her, past episodes are available to catch up on via BBC Sounds or the BBC website.
