A serious collision has led to the closure of a major road in Essex, causing significant traffic disruption. Roxwell Road, near Writtle and Chelmsford, has been shut down in both directions following the crash earlier this afternoon, with police warning that the road will remain closed for several hours as they conduct investigative work at the scene.
The collision, described as life-changing, occurred on the A1060 between Boyton Cross and Lordship Road. Essex Police have set up a cordon in the area, and motorists are being urged to avoid the scene completely and find alternative routes as traffic builds up.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We are currently at the scene of a serious collision near Writtle. Roxwell Road is closed between Boyton Cross and Lordship Road while we carry out investigative enquiries. The road will be closed for several hours, and we ask motorists to avoid the area and seek alternative routes. Thank you for your patience.”
Several surrounding roads have also been affected. Vicarage Road has been closed at the junction with Roxwell Road, and heavy traffic is building on both sides of the closure.
As the investigation continues, drivers are being advised to stay updated on the latest road closures and traffic developments to avoid further disruption.
Updates will follow as the situation unfolds.
