Shocking footage has emerged showing the moment a rowdy partygoer was tackled to the ground by Metropolitan Police officers outside a busy Soho bar, in an incident that left onlookers stunned.
The altercation took place outside Waxy’s Little Sister on Wardour Street, Soho, around 10pm on Saturday, 17 May, as police were dealing with a separate pickpocketing suspect.
In the video shared with UK News in Pictures a woman in a party dress and chunky sandals can be seen confronting a female officer. After refusing to leave the area, she was pushed back, before two male officers joined in to restrain and handcuff her on the pavement.
Police Say Woman Hit Officer in Chest
According to a Met Police spokesperson, the woman was repeatedly told to leave the scene but returned several times and ultimately struck an officer in the chest. She was arrested on suspicion of assaulting and obstructing a police officer.
“Body-worn video confirmed the officer’s account, and the woman later accepted a caution,” the spokesperson added.
A bouncer was seen attempting to intervene, but appeared to be held back by another, while shocked bystanders watched the scuffle unfold.

DPS Review: Officers “Acted Appropriately”
After footage of the incident circulated online, the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) conducted a fast-time review to assess whether the use of force was proportionate.
“Officers considered all available footage and concluded the actions were appropriate. No disciplinary matters have been identified,” the Met confirmed.
Public Reaction Divided
The video sparked debate on social media, with some calling the police response “harsh” and others defending the officers’ actions. The footage shows the woman being swiftly brought to the ground by three officers amid a chaotic street scene.
The incident comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Met Police conduct in public order incidents, particularly in the capital’s nightlife hotspots.
