London Ambulance Service confirmed they were called at 5.30pm on Friday (22 August) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a moped and a cyclist.

A spokesperson said:

“We were called at 5.30pm today (22 August) to reports of a road traffic collision on King Street, W6.

We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and a clinical team manager. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

Our first paramedic arrived on scene in less than four minutes.

Very sadly, despite best efforts of our crews, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Witness accounts

It is understood the moped had attempted to take a shortcut by riding along a cycle path to avoid traffic. The victim was struck with force and thrown some distance.

A mother and child narrowly avoided being hit, witnesses said.

Specialist officers from the Metropolitan Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit (Traffic Garage) remain at the scene carrying out forensic enquiries.
