Woman Jailed for 20 Weeks After Aldershot Shop Theft and Breaching Criminal Behaviour Order

A woman has been jailed for 20 weeks after stealing items worth over £450 from a shop in Aldershot. Abbie Folkes, 31, of East Street, Farnham, was sentenced at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on 16 September after pleading guilty to one count of theft from a shop and two counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order.

The incident occurred on 12 September when Folkes stole fragrance bottles worth £461.20 from Boots in the Wellington Centre. Despite being subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) imposed in 2023, which prohibited her from entering Aldershot for five years, Folkes disregarded the ban and returned to the area to commit the theft.

Police Sergeant Rob Tiller from the Aldershot Neighbourhood Policing Team said, “Abbie Folkes is a prolific shoplifter who stole more than £450 worth of items from a store in Aldershot. A Criminal Behaviour Order was imposed in 2023, which banned her from entering Aldershot for five years. However, she brazenly ignored this and continued to visit the area to commit crime.

Sergeant Tiller emphasized the importance of the sentence, stating, “I hope this result sends a message to offenders that this level of behaviour and criminality will not be tolerated.”

Folkes was jailed for a total of 20 weeks as a result of her actions.
