Emergency services rushed to Waltham Way in Chingford on Thursday evening, 5 December, after reports of a tree collapsing onto a car near the local rugby club. The incident occurred just after 7:30 p.m., trapping a woman inside her Volvo vehicle.
Firefighters, police officers from the Metropolitan Police, and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service all responded to the scene. Thanks to the excellent safety features of the Volvo, the woman is understood to have escaped serious injury.
Crews worked quickly to free the trapped driver while ensuring the area was made safe. The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
