A woman in her 80s has tragically died following a car crash in Headcorn village earlier today. Emergency services responded to the incident, which occurred near the junction of North Street and High Street, shortly before midday.
Incident Details
Kent Police confirmed they were called at 11:51 AM after a car collided with a bollard. Emergency services, including police, fire crews, and paramedics, attended the scene. Despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police spokesperson stated:
“Officers attended the scene alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service, where a woman in her 80s was confirmed deceased. Her next of kin has been informed. The driver is believed to have suffered a medical episode.”
Emergency Response
The collision prompted a large emergency response, with at least three police vehicles, fire engines, and two ambulances present in the village. A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said:
“One fire engine was sent to the scene to assist SECAmb.
Witnesses described the area as heavily cordoned off, with emergency vehicles blocking parts of the High Street.

The exact circumstances of the crash are under investigation. Police have indicated that the driver may have experienced a medical episode before the collision.
