A woman has been charged with multiple offences related to having a dangerously out-of-control dog after a man sustained fatal injuries in Stratford.
Police were called to Shirley Road, Stratford, at 4:53 AM on Wednesday, 4 December, following reports of a man who had been seriously injured in a dog attack.
The victim, a 42-year-old man, was taken to hospital but tragically died from his injuries. His family has been informed, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place.
Charges Filed
Leanne McDonnell, 32, of Shirley Road, Stratford, was arrested and has now been charged with the following offences:
- Owning a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death.
- Failing in her duty, as a person responsible for an animal, to ensure its welfare.
- Having custody of a fighting dog.
McDonnell was also charged with three counts of owning a dog dangerously out of control causing no injury, linked to a separate incident on 18 November 2024.
Court Appearance
McDonnell has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 6 December 2024.
Dog Seized
The dog involved in the incident has been seized by police. Authorities have not disclosed details about the breed of the dog but confirmed that it was involved in multiple incidents, including the fatal attack on 4 December.
