But the spotlight soon shifted to the show’s big exit as drag king baker Jessika was sent packing.
Jessika Bowed Out After Risky Bake Flop
Londoner Jessika, 32, was the fourth contestant to leave the Channel 4 bake-off. Known for her bold flair and creativity, she hit a rough patch during the school-themed week. Prue <a href=”https:///uknip.co.<a href=”https:///www.uknip.co.<a href=”https:///www.uknip.co.<a href=”https:///www.uknip.co.Leith summed it up:
“Jessika is a risk-taker, and this week she took that risk too far.”
The service designer admitted things didn’t go to plan: “Everything went wrong – my oven, my microwave, my cake, my biscuits, my meringue.” It wasn’t a surprise when she was shown the door.
Jessika Reflects on Emotional Bake Off Journey
Despite the exit, Jessika looked back with pride. Her favourite moment was week one’s showstopper featuring apples from a treasured tree owned by Betty, a special person in her life. “Using those apples felt like bringing Betty along for the ride,” she said.
Her best bake was a week two biscuit selfie, while her worst was the disaster this week. She also revealed a lighter side of the experience, joking about her fun moments with hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond:
- “I’d love to wear Noel’s clothes!”
- “Maybe we could become a delightful coordinated drag duo?”
- And about Alison: “I got her a giant hard-boiled diamond ring and asked her in Spanish if she’d marry me… She was playing hard to get but maybe we’re engaged now!”
What’s Next for Jessika?
Jessika’s time in the Bake Off tent may have ended, but she’s not disappearing just yet. She’ll be appearing on The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice alongside Jo Brand and Tom Allen on Friday, September 26 at 8pm on Channel 4.
