WHEN AND WHY Clocks Go Back: When and Why?
Clocks Go Back: When and Why? ? UKNIP

Good news! The UK clocks go back this October, giving you a bonus hour in bed before winter’s dark nights fully set in.

Circle the Date: October 26 Is Clock-Change Sunday

At 2:00am on Sunday, October 26, the clocks fall back one hour. That means more sleep and brighter afternoons as daylight stretches a little longer.

Don’t Forget to Reset Your Manual Clocks!

Phones, tablets, and smart gadgets will adjust automatically. But old-school alarm clocks, car radios, and non-smart devices need a manual wind to avoid confusion.

The Reason Behind the Clock Change

Daylight Saving Time aims to save energy by making better use of daylight. It kicked off during WWI in 1916 when Germany flipped the clocks to reduce electricity use. Britain jumped on board in 1916 and solidified British Summer Time from 1971 onwards.
