Vodafone, a trusted network for countless Britons, is grappling with a significant outage this morning. As per Down Detector, the disruptions commenced around 6.20am, affecting users across the United Kingdom.
A spokesperson from Vodafone informed MailOnline that the company is “aware that some customers are experiencing issues” and added, “We are aware some customers are experiencing intermittent issues using our network. We’re sorry for the inconvenience, our team is working hard to fix the issue and we hope to have it resolved quickly.”
So far, more than 3,000 problem reports related to Vodafone have been registered on Down Detector. Among those who reported issues, 56% complained about mobile internet problems, 36% cited issues with their mobile phones, and the remaining 5% reported problems with their landline internet.
Down Detector aggregates network status updates from various sources, including social media and user submissions on its platform. The website’s user-submitted problem reports displayed a “heat map” indicating that affected customers were primarily concentrated in London, Birmingham, and Manchester, though reports were scattered throughout the country.
Frustrated users took to social media, with one individual in London reporting, “Vodafone in London is down?????!!! I am not getting any connection, having to use Wi-Fi. Anyone else got this issue??”
Another user queried, “Is Vodafone down for anyone? Not receiving any texts or calls.”
While numerous users tagged Vodafone in their social media posts seeking explanations, the company did not appear to acknowledge the outage on social media platforms. In response to one user, Vodafone suggested checking the network status tracked on its website. However, some users found this unhelpful, with one responding, “That is an absolute waste of time, I’ve already done it and it states there’s no network issues in my area, which is a complete lie. I have NO BARS and my data does not work. I can only use my phone on Wi-Fi. It’s an absolute joke!”
This widespread network issue has left Vodafone customers nationwide hoping for a swift resolution to restore their mobile connectivity.
