Lorry Driver Jailed for Brutal Road Rage Stab Attack on M1
A 47-year-old lorry driver has been locked up for 22 months after launching a savage stabbing attack on a rival trucker during a furious road rage incident on the M1 motorway.
Violent Clash on M1 Near Watford Gap
It all kicked off on the morning of March 14 near Watford Gap Services. Mykhaylo Kuzyan suddenly switched lanes, sparking a reaction from the other HGV driver. After flashing his lights in disapproval, the situation escalated quickly.
Kuzyan followed the victim into the services and blocked his exit with his lorry. The victim, in his 40s, smashed a brick against Kuzyan’s truck before walking away – but Kuzyan then charged and stabbed him five times in the back.
A brave bystander stepped in to stop the attack, preventing further injury.
Court Battle Ends with Guilty Plea
Kuzyan was arrested and charged. At Northampton Crown Court on September 8, right before the trial began, he admitted to Section 20 wounding without intent, dangerous driving, and possession of an offensive weapon – claiming self-defence.
He was sentenced to 22 months behind bars, banned from driving in the UK for 35 months, and fined £187. The knife used was confiscated.
Police Condemn Knife Violence
“Such violence has no place in our society. This minor incident escalated fast into a senseless attack,”
— Detective Constable Abigail Jones, CID West
She warned of the dire dangers knives pose and hailed the sentence as a strong message. “Thankfully, the victim wasn’t seriously hurt, but this could have ended tragically.”
Community Safety Remains Priority
Northamptonshire Police reaffirm their commitment to tackling knife crime through education, engagement, and firm action against offenders.
