Police have launched an urgent missing persons appeal for a 14-year-old girl who vanished after taking her family’s dog for a walk in Allerton Bywater, near Leeds.

Isabella Hayward, known to her loved ones as Bella, was last seen around 12.30pm on Friday, April 19, when she left her home with the family’s sandy-coloured cockapoo, named Cooper. She has not been seen since, and the dog is also missing.

West Yorkshire Police believe she may have entered the St Aidan’s nature reserve, a large park area close to her home. Officers have been carrying out searches in and around the area and continue to appeal to the public for assistance.

In a statement, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:

“Police are continuing to appeal for information to help trace a 14-year-old girl who has gone missing from home in Leeds. Isabella Hayward was last seen at about 12.30pm on Friday when she left home to walk the family dog. She was reported missing later that afternoon when she failed to return. She may have gone to the nearby St Aidan’s nature reserve.”

Bella was last seen wearing a stone-coloured White Fox top and black leggings. The missing dog, Cooper, is described as a sandy-coloured cockapoo with a black lead and a blue collar.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen Bella or Cooper—or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area around the time—to get in touch immediately.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting log number 1234 of April 19, or report online via the police website.

Concern for Bella’s safety is growing by the hour, with friends and neighbours joining the search efforts and sharing appeals across social media.
