Police Appeal For Witnesses After Assault Near River Thames

Merseyside Police officers are urgently seeking information regarding a serious hit-and-run incident in Rock Ferry, where the driver of a car fled the scene after colliding with a 13-year-old cyclist.

The incident occurred at approximately 18.50 BST on Monday, September 18, on New Chester Road in Rock Ferry. Authorities received a report detailing the collision between a car and a bike. The young cyclist sustained bruising and a concussion, necessitating hospitalisation for further examination.

Disturbingly, the driver of the car failed to stop at the scene, prompting ongoing efforts by law enforcement to locate both the individual and the vehicle involved. Inspector Philip McManus emphasised the seriousness of leaving the scene of any collision, underlining the need to trace the responsible party.

Inspector McManus stated, “Thankfully the boy who was involved in the collision did not suffer any serious injuries but was still left unconscious after the incident; therefore, we are appealing to anyone who saw this to please contact us.”

Authorities are urging witnesses or individuals with relevant information, including potential CCTV or dash-cam footage, to come forward. Inspector McManus emphasised that any information provided will be crucial in furthering their investigation.
