Two 18-year-old men were stabbed near Hove Lawns on Friday evening amid a series of anti-social incidents across Brighton’s seafront, prompting police to step up patrols and arrest two teenage suspects.

Sussex Police had already increased their presence across Brighton city centre on Friday, 31 May, in anticipation of large youth gatherings during the warm weather. Officers were called to multiple locations throughout the evening in response to reports of disorder, intoxication, and violence.

Double Stabbing at Hove Lawns
Later that night, at approximately 9:55pm, police monitoring a second gathering at Hove Lawns were alerted to a stabbing.
Two 18-year-old males had suffered stab wounds and were transported to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police Statement and Community Appeal
Chief Inspector Vicky Dias of Sussex Police said:
“Everyone has the right to enjoy the summer weather in peace, but social gatherings turning to criminal disorder is unacceptable and will be met with a robust response.
These incidents show how quickly anti-social behaviour can escalate into violence with potentially tragic consequences.
We urge parents to be aware of their children’s behaviour and whereabouts to help keep them safe from harm.”
Increased police patrols will remain in place across the weekend, with officers continuing to engage with local businesses, residents, and youth.
