Two teenagers have been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Leicester. Codie Bambrick, 18, died at the scene of the incident in New Parks on Wednesday.
Leicestershire Police announced on Friday (May 24) that the two 17-year-olds, who cannot be identified due to their age, have also been charged with conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to commit violent disorder. They are set to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (May 25).
A third 17-year-old has been charged with violent disorder, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in relation to another person, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He will also appear at the same court on Saturday.
Police were called to Glazebrook Road just before 1:15 p.m. following a report of a man being stabbed. Codie Bambrick was treated by emergency services but tragically died at the scene a short time later.
A 38-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man, who were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with the incident, have been released on bail. Additionally, a 52-year-old man was previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and was later released under investigation.
A post-mortem examination confirmed that Codie died as a result of a stab wound. His family issued a statement expressing their grief: “Our world has been turned upside down. Codie was loved by all of us and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. We’d urge anyone who can help police with their investigation to contact them.
Leicestershire Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.
