Two new arrests in Southwark murder

Detectives investigating the murder of Amara Toure have made two further arrests. A 20-year-old man from Ilford and a 20-year-old man from East Ham were arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday, 4 July. They are currently in an East London custody suite. Enquiries continue. Amara, 18, died after being stabbed in Sutherland Walk, SE17 in the early hours of Sunday, 30 June. A post-mortem examination held on Tuesday, 2 July gave cause of death as incisive wounds to the abdomen and blood loss. Three men, 22yrs;18yrs; 22yrs, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They were taken to separate custody facilities and have since been released under investigation. A third man a 20-year-old man was charged with murder on Wednesday, 3 July. He appeared at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 4 July. He was remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, 8 July.
