Two More Charged with the Murder of 16-Year-Old Lathaniel Burrell in Stockwell Shooting

 

Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of teenager Lathaniel Burrell in Stockwell have charged two more individuals in connection with his murder.

Lathaniel, aged 16, was shot dead on Paradise Road, SW4 on Tuesday, 4 March, in a violent attack that shocked the local community. Despite emergency services’ efforts, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. His family continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

On Tuesday, 26 March, police arrested a 17-year-old boy from Peckham and a 30-year-old man from Lambeth, now identified as Jeffery Frimpong, of Smedley Street.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Frimpong, born 09 May 1994, has been charged with murder.

Both men are due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court later today (Thursday, 27 March).

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, leading the investigation from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said:

“These charges mark a significant milestone in the investigation. We continue to appeal for witnesses and for those with knowledge of this incident to come forward. Please be reassured that we will continue to investigate this matter and ensure that all offenders are brought to justice.”

The latest charges follow the earlier arrests of another 17-year-old boy and Omar Prempeh, aged 32, of Sunderland Road, Forest Hill. Both were previously charged with murder and are scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 29 May.

The investigation remains active, and police continue to appeal for anyone with information or footage to come forward by calling 101, quoting CAD 6200/04MAR, or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
