Two men who attacked a victim during an aggravated burglary in Folkestone have been jailed for a total of more than 10 years – UKNIP

Darren Griffin and Jack Mayers broke into a flat in Earls Avenue on 18 October 2022 and demanded money from the occupant.

The man was then repeatedly punched to the face and kicked in the stomach before threats were made to take one of his children.

After the victim was further assaulted, Griffin and Mayers stole cash and jewellery and left the scene.

Following an investigation by Kent Police, Mayers was arrested two days later and Griffin was detained the following month.

Griffin, 30, formerly of Rendezvous Street, Folkestone, admitted burglary and assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was jailed for six years at Canterbury Crown Court on 22 June 2023.

Mayers, 28, formerly of Springfield Way, Hythe, admitted aggravated burglary and was jailed for five years at the same court hearing.
