Two individuals have been taken to the hospital after a gunshot was reportedly heard near a busy street in central London. The incident occurred on Gilbert Street near Oxford Street at approximately 6:35 pm on July 30.
Police were alerted to reports of youths in possession of a knife in the area. Upon arrival, officers found two people with injuries: one with a head injury and the other with injuries to their hands. Despite initial reports of a gunshot, neither of the two individuals was shot.
Both injured parties were transported to the hospital for treatment, where their conditions were assessed as non-life-threatening.
In connection with the incident, three people have been arrested. A knife was recovered at the scene.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police provided the following statement: “Police were called at about 18:35 hrs on Tuesday, 30 July to reports of a gunshot heard and a group of youths in possession of a knife on Gilbert Street at the junction with Oxford Street, W1.
“Officers attended. Two people were taken to hospital for treatment to a head and hand injury. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Neither was shot. They have both been arrested. A knife was recovered at the scene. A third person has also been arrested. Enquiries continue.”
The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
