Two Held Over Shocking Halesowen Rape Linked to Oldbury Attack

West Midlands Police have arrested a man and a woman in connection with a brutal rape in Halesowen – and linked them to a previous attack in Oldbury.

49-Year-Old Man and 65-Year-Old Woman in Custody

The disturbing incident unfolded in Hurst Green Park on the evening of October 16, when a woman in her 30s was attacked. Police were called around 7pm and quickly launched an investigation.

This morning, officers arrested a 49-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman from Sandwell on suspicion of rape. A police cordon remains in place at the park as enquiries continue.

Suspects Also Tied to September Oldbury Rape

Later this afternoon, the same pair were arrested over a second rape on Tame Road, Oldbury, dating back to September 9.

Both suspects remain in custody for questioning as police pursue further evidence.

Community Demands Justice After Months of Waiting

The Sikh Federation UK welcomed the arrests but criticised the delay in action following the Oldbury attack.

“We hope there’s enough evidence to charge those responsible for these disgusting attacks,” said Inderjit Kaur of the organisation.

Last month, the Sikh community staged protests and held a vigil to support the victims and highlight violence against women.

Birmingham Edgbaston MP Preet Gill also spoke out, raising concerns over rising hate crimes. Meanwhile, Crimestoppers has offered a hefty £20,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.

The victim’s family insists they cannot move on until those behind these appalling crimes are brought to justice.
