Kent Police have taken significant steps forward in the investigation of a string of burglaries involving vehicle theft from rural properties, resulting in the charging of two teenagers.

The series of incidents began in the early hours of Wednesday, April 10, 2024, when a residence near Tenterden was unlawfully entered, and a campervan was stolen from its driveway. Subsequently, on the following day, a Volkswagen was reported stolen from a property in the village of Throwley, near Faversham. The spree continued with a third burglary on Monday afternoon, April 15, when a house in Langton Green, near Tunbridge Wells, fell victim, and yet another Volkswagen was pilfered.

Kent Police’s Crime Squad promptly launched an investigation into these disturbing events, leading to the apprehension of three teenagers on Tuesday, April 16.

Patrick Harty, aged 18, hailing from Kettering, Northamptonshire, and a 16-year-old boy, whose identity cannot be disclosed due to legal reasons, have been charged with conspiracy to burgle. Both individuals are scheduled to make their appearance before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 18.

Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy has been granted bail while further inquiries are conducted.

Kent Police continue to urge anyone with information pertinent to these crimes to come forward and assist in the investigation.
