Two Boys Hospitalised After River Rescue in West Drayton

Two young boys were rushed to the hospital following a rescue operation from the River Colne in West Drayton. The emergency services were alerted to the incident just before 6:40 PM yesterday, prompting a swift response from the local fire brigade and ambulance services.

Firefighters equipped with specialised water rescue gear successfully extricated an 11-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy from the river. Details regarding their conditions remain undisclosed as they receive medical care at a nearby hospital. Additionally, an adult man, who also emerged from the water, declined any medical treatment upon the brigade’s arrival.

The rescue operation, involving two fire engines from Heathrow and Hayes and rescue units from Wembley and Bethnal Green, concluded shortly before 8:40 PM.

A spokesperson from the London Fire Brigade emphasized the dangers of attempting water rescues without proper training or equipment. The best thing you can do if you see someone in difficulty in the water is to call 999, try to give an exact location about where you are, and keep your eyes on the last spot you saw them,” they advised. If you go into the water to rescue people, pets or belongings, you could be putting yourself at risk as well.”

Further updates on the condition of the boys will be provided as more information becomes available from the London Ambulance Service. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the perils associated with water bodies and the importance of adhering to safety protocols.
