In a devastating incident that took place on Friday, October 6, a fatal collision occurred at Watergate in the village of West Marden. Sussex Police are now appealing for information from the public to aid in their investigation.
Emergency services were swiftly dispatched to the scene at approximately 17.10 BST, following reports of a motorcycle colliding with a fence. Tragically, the rider, identified as 37-year-old Paul Gibbard, from Southsea, lost his life at the scene.
Paul, a passionate motorcycle enthusiast, had been enjoying the sunshine on his beloved Triumph Thruxton motorbike. He was not only known for his love of riding but also for his creation of the Dull Men’s Motorcycle Club, a community that brought him immense joy. His motto, “Hold Fast. When times get tough, one needs to hold fast and ride it out,” truly exemplified his resilient spirit.
Expressing their deep sorrow, Paul’s wife shared, “Our beloved Paul died doing what he loved most – riding his motorcycle in the sunshine. He will be hugely missed by us and all those who knew him.”
Paul’s grieving family has been notified, and they are receiving support from specialised officers during this difficult time.
