A quiet Saturday morning in the United States turned into a horrifying ordeal when a stabbing incident occurred, resulting in the death of an 8-year-old boy and leaving a woman injured. Authorities have been questioning a 71-year-old man, identified as the landlord, in connection with the incident.
At approximately 11:38 the Will County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call from a residence located in the 16200 block of South Lincoln Highway near Lily Cache Road. According to the sheriff’s office, a 32-year-old woman reported being attacked by her landlord with a knife. Fearing for her safety, she managed to escape to the bathroom and called 911.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Plainfield Police Department swiftly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered the suspect lying on the ground near the home’s driveway, having sustained a laceration to his forehead. He was immediately transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities entered the residence and made a grim discovery. Both the woman and the 8-year-old boy had sustained multiple stab wounds to their chests, torsos, and upper extremities. Law enforcement officials estimated that the victims had been stabbed more than a dozen times. The woman was rushed to the hospital in serious condition, while the young boy was initially listed in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. The Will County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased child.
Following his release from the hospital, the suspect was taken into custody by detectives at the Will County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Complex for questioning. As of Saturday evening, no criminal charges had been filed, and the investigation is expected to continue into Sunday.
