A devastating collision involving two cars and a pedestrian occurred on Chester Road, Stretford, near the Tesco Superstore, late last night, Saturday 22 July 2023. The incident, which took place shortly after 22.10 BST, has left the community in shock and authorities investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
According to reports, a female pedestrian in her 40s was crossing Chester Road when she was struck by a Black Audi A8 travelling city-bound. The impact caused the woman to fall into the path of a Mercedes on the Stretford-bound carriageway. Tragically, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian sustained injuries that proved fatal. Her family has been informed of the heartbreaking incident and is receiving support from specially trained officers during this difficult time.
The Audi involved in the collision left the scene initially, but it was later recovered nearby. A 36-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention as the investigation into the incident unfolds.
